Who would have thought that a girl and a guy born almost 7,000 miles away would meet 29 years later?
While she argues that it took her traveling a long ways: Korea—>AZ—>NYC—>PA to find him, he jokes that he had to survive cancer. Okay, he wins!
She graduated from the University of Arizona, rushing Alpha Phi. He graduated from the University of Maryland, rushing Pi Kappa Phi.
They both dropped out of Greek Life.
He continued onto business school and then medical school at the University of Michigan. She continued her career in morning radio.
In 2011, their lives intersected at Alfa Restaurant on Walnut Street in Philadelphia. She had moved on to philanthropy work with The Hamels Foundation. He had just started as an ICU attending.
That year, she visiting Africa for the first time. He had already been to over 40 countries, including Africa. He gave her some medical/malaria advice and it took 2-3 more months of getting to know each other before…..they shared their first kiss. Both say it was the other person who initiated it. It also took this long for her to convince him that it’s not weird to dress up a teacup poodle (named Regina).
Since that moment, they’ve been driving each other crazy, dressing up Regina, traveling the world, scuba diving, working out, obsessing over their favorite shows, enjoying movies, cooking, doing yard work, antiquing and restoring rare furniture pieces, playing Candy Crush, having home fashion shows……… and realizing they can’t live without each other. They wed February 1, 2014 in Los Cabos, Mexico.
